Literature Text

Carry me down to the candlelit bay,
Leave me to weep by the lone fallen graves.
Rest me among the souls of the damned,
Bury our pasts with the soil of the land.

I lie praying for those who have passed,
While mem'ry lingers with lives that are last.
Drown each in remembrance, yearning for years,
Each age refilling the glass flask of tears.

The ships wait in harbor, unfurl thy sails.
A new king is risen, all turn round and hail
Though the maidens in green field, hill, and glen,
Know war that shall bloom, again and again.

Hear, in the mountains the clarion's call.
Bring forth soldiers, mighty bloodtrance and all.
Impure legions of scarlet, knight and horse,
Prepare to relapse 'neath grayscale remorse.

So lay me down again, amidst broken stars,
Watch as I weep over fresh blood and scars.
War runs in veins deep, in cycles untold,
Carry me down, to the sorrows of old.
Poetry again? Really, me? :D

After listening to Irish rock ballads for hours, I was feeling really inspired. I'd love to find someone able to adapt this into a folk-ish song, like Scarborough Fair and Foggy Dew.
